Module II
Presence & Sound
Learning to stay with what emerges — before shaping it.
Where you begin
You have skill. You can build a track, shape a mix, finish a project. But somewhere along the way, the act of creating became reactive — responding to sounds rather than sourcing them.
You produce quickly but rarely from stillness. There is technique, but presence is missing.
Where this leads
A practice of creating from embodied presence. Learning to sit with what arises before shaping it. The ability to listen — truly listen — to what a piece wants to become, rather than imposing what you think it should be.
What happens inside
Week 1
Arriving
Before we create, we learn to arrive. Somatic practices that bring you into your body before you touch an instrument or open a session. Establishing a pre-creation ritual.
Week 2
Listening Before Shaping
Working with raw sound. Learning to sit with material before arranging it. Resisting the impulse to fix, layer, or structure. Hearing what is already there.
Week 3
The Body as Instrument
Integrating movement and breath into your creative process. Creating from physical impulse rather than mental planning. Sound design rooted in felt sensation.
Week 4
Sustained Presence
Bringing everything together into longer creation sessions where presence is maintained. Working through resistance and restlessness. The cohort shares their presence-sourced work.
